Hello everyone,

I purchased a plant from Petsmart the other day called "Frill." Its a very bushy kind of plant and cant seem to find any relevant information on how to keep it alive successfully.

I have come across "foxtail" which essentially looks the same as Frill.

I have a 55g tank with the Hagen GLO dual T5 fixture.. it has a 10k and 6700k bulb in it.

After 2 days, the plant looks like it is doing well and is bright green.

If anyone could contribute any information about this plant, that would be helpful.

Thanks :)

Sure, it is Myriophyllum of some sort, water millfoil aka foxtail. Like cabomba, another feathery plant, it can quickly succumb to algae or other detritus clogging its leaves, so good water circulation is recommended...a great plant for fry tanks for this very reason, just like the various mosses, fry love picking at the "stuff" it catches. One thing to note is that many plants such as wisteria, are grown emersed (roots in the water, but plant in the air) so it will sort of "melt" and then regrow in your tank as it adapts to being submerged. Not sure if you have enough light to keep it looking thick and bushy, it might get a little leggy but either way it should do fine in your tank.
