frog fish questions

Since I have started out with salt water I have seen a yellow, black and just yesterday an orange frog fish. They have been expensive but they are up there on my list of cool looking marine life. Are they compatible with each other? www.liveaquaria.com has a chart which would say yes. But at one of the stores they told me they only keep them alone. Also, their tank was more or less reef with only soft corals. Could they be put in a reef tank, knowing they eat crustacean… I guess don’t know what those are. I have a 29gallon reef, and if they are compatible with each other and won't eat the tank mates I'd almost definitely upgrade to a 75gallon-larger. I only have two maroon clowns, scooter blenny, 22 blue legged hermits, 13 turbo and 2 nasarius snails, one porcine crab and one arrow crab. Thanks for input; I don't want to have something die because I'm not informed about it. Yeah, knowledge!

Frog fish will eat anything that will fit in their mouths. This includes fish, crabs, shrimp, and yes, other frog fish. They can be housed together, as long as they are similar in size. These fish can consume anything that is smaller or equal to 2/3 their own size. Since some frogs get larger than others, this means they can eat fish up to 8 inches in size, depending on the species of frog you get.

They won't hurt any corals, but being large predators, they can compromise water quality. I wouldn't put them in with corals that have stinging tentacles or polyps, as the frogs habit of perching on rocks and such may expose them to toxins from the corals.

if you try the frog fish make sure they are the same size.. I kept one for a while but with biger fish. He tried to eat my eel a few times but found out that it was to big....... another fish to look at that is really cool are leaf fish.. I started with the frog but now i like leaf fish all the way
