Frozen beefheart for small fish?

Hey guys,

Ive currently got clown loaches, platies, tetras, Rams, harliquins, dwarf Gouramis, and soon will have a few Rainbow fish in my tank. I was planning on getting them some frozen beefheart as i hear that it is very high in protien and may intensifie fish colours. Is beefheart reccomended for these types of small fish, or is it mostly for large fish like chicilids? Also, how many times a week should it be feed?

I would go with something like blood worms instead. Beefheart isn't accepted by many fish, and can cause serious water quality issues. You'll want to be careful feeding any meaty food to herbivores--it can cause serious problems for gouramies.

Im currently only feeding blood worms once per day in the mornings. Thinking of getting some brine shrimp, and alternating with the bloodworms every other day. Is that still too much meat? I feed twice a day, where i give them flakes in the evening. Small feedings of course....

As for the Beafheart, just read up on it. I think ill stay away. Thanks though....

For the gouramies, yes. I'd cut back to every other day at most. Keep in mind that most flake food also contains protien, as well. You might want to pick up some spirulina flakes, to increase the variety. This, along with clean water, will do more to promote health and good color for your fish.
