I just relandscaped my tank, and there are DEFINITELY live bloodworms in there. Not many - just a couple. I feed frozen ones irregularly, and they are bright red. How crazy is that? Has anyone else experienced this?

are you sure it's not something that hitched a ride with either some new fish or plants?

I don't know what those critters are but I am confident that they are not frozen bloodworms come back to life. Can you provide a pic perhaps?

I don't doubt that there could be live bloodworms in the substrate however they would be local blood worms hatched from eggs laid by local midges.

eeeewwww

eww, the thought is almost as gross as the lady here who had a "worm carpet". wonder what happened with that... must look for that thread

Yeah, that would be me. The thread is here: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136228&highlight=live+black+worms+substrate and as for the update on what happened with my "worm carpet"--nothing has happened other than they're reproducing. LoL. I'm still tossing around the idea of buying a new setup to move everyone into just to be able to get that substrate out. I'm tossing around the idea of having my own worm farm--I think my fish wouldn't mind. However, they'd be frozen before being fed to my fish. I have these worms living in all my tanks, but not as noticeable as the ones in the shrimp tanks since there are no worm predators in there.

not likely they are bloodworms(midge larvae) they need an adult midge fly to lay eggs(possible) .
if they are reproducing without the benefit of midge flies

you may have tubifex .
