As for flowerhorns yeah your right not normal for that size but flowerhorns are not normal fish the thing is when fish are bred with others to make hybrids no one is sure what will take place and even more so is that most hobbyist are not sure they will be able to produce, most hybrids are sterile..

But its not unheard of fish breeding at one month of age..

Ya it just shocked me they are so young and if i was to estimate i would guess 100+ fry but ill see how many will live. They are in the tank alone. Are you experianced with flowerhorn fry? What should i feed them ?ETC.....

although no my exact fish mine looks identical. Do the dark black lines mean anything. Because all the others i have seen dont have the stripes?
 
Most fish have black bar pigments when ever they feel certain mood issues the bars will intensify or fade out..

Ok dont take me wrong in the sense i do not keep or agree with hybrid fishmaking for a profit its like someone playing god, its just not natural, but they are living creatures so they need our care, as for me i have never owned a hybrid and if i had two tanganyika's of different fish types to breed and be successful at doing so i would cull the offspring or feed to another fish, but this is just me and i am not saying you should not do it..

A lot of people need to know that this is a hobby and is what people enjoy, all i ask is that people just be compasionate towards a living creature via care and health..

And thats also like when people set up a tank with all those silly little neon decorations neon green gravel and little clam bubblers with a castle in the background, its not for me so to say, but if you like it than so be it..

Yeah if your fish look like the fish above in your last post i would say you have the flowerhorn cichlid..

As for fry i have bred several fish in my 22 years of fish keeping and i currently have several fry of different species of fish in different tanks for grow out, but a good food for flowerhorn fry is live brine, small chopped up redworm pieces from your local baitshop, a good quality flake food pulverized by your fingertips when introducing the flake to the fry..

Im with you my lfs told me he would take store credit, thats why i asked. I was interested in flowerhorns, and when i bought them i didnt even know they were hybrids. Not to mention i did not expect them to breed. Quite shocking. My lfs is a family buisness so they are good with the care. I lok at it as a way to learn and better my tanks if he will do credit. But im with you i had no intention of making profit when i bought them. I just like fish. So how big should they be before i move them. have a larger tank i want them in, but befor i could moove them they breeded?
 
Flowerhorns get pretty big i would say just a pair would need at least a 55gal tank and if your going to keep babies i would say a 75gal or 125gal would be best..

man no worries on the hybrids some folks are totally against them and will tell you a load of crap but all in all its what you like my friend just make them happy and they will reward you for it, i have seen them in dealers tanks and they do look pretty and i have seen them go for like 50 bucks a fish, so as long as there is a market for them you can make some money, but what needs to be the first issue is that you must know what you have if you just have a plain mutt fish and you feel its not right to let it out in the community than trust your feelings..

Aquabid.com is a good place to offer fish for sell i would photo your fish and post here before you do it and let us look at it and give a prospective view about what type you have..

On the size of fish before moving them is really an issue on the parents you have if they get ready to spawn again they will kill their offspring to make room for the next batch, i think you said you have a 30gal if so i would make that a fry tank and move the parents to a bigger setup and if thats not an option than i would recommend the fry removal for cull or placement, i dont know what your funds are like but you can look on craigslist.com look up your area and you are bound to find a suitable tank for less..

Plus if you are not able to do this right now i would rehome or take the fish back for trade and work with something that is more attainable in your setup, but this is your call and i am not trying to influence you on not keeping hybrids..

Hikari First bites and frozen baby brine for my babies we have 21 hap babies in a little breader net, had to strip the mom after one week, she was just getting harassed to no end by everyone else and wasn't looking very good... talk about stressful I was glad that i wasn't there when my boyfriend did it. We were worried at first becase they still had really large egg sacks but we haven't lost any of them (knock on wood) and they are growing and eatting really well Best of luck with yours it is so exciting to have babies!!
