While doing my water change yesterday I found that there are some fry living in my gravel. They are very tiny but they came out for a swim and it looked like they were going to be lunch for one of the platys. But they got away and went down in the gravel. Will they survive without me feeding them or will they just eat little bits that the fish don't get? I assume that they are platy fry.

They might survive, I have 3 full grown platys in my tank now that just lived by luck, I did nothing to save them, I never even knew they were there. If you want to keep them, the best idea is to try and catch them (good luck! LOL, quick little things) and put them in a breeding net, or buy some breeding grass from the LFS to give them better places to hide.

they may get some food left over. if not u may want to try to move them. how big are they. because i can gaurantee if they poke their head out to try to get some food, your fish will eat them

Just leave them alone, if they live they live, if not you know they were a little nutritious snack for someone else in the tank.
I have 5 very round little fry that grew from somewhere in the gravel...as I didn't feed them! They are resourceful and if they live with the big fish they deserve a chance!

Just my opinion...underdogs always make me happy!

Well I didn't do anything to save these little guys and I didn't see them anymore even when vacuming the gravel. That was about 2-3 weeks ago. Yesterday I looked and there were 2 tiny fish hiding at the top of my Wisteria. They looked like little tadpoles the last time I saw them but now they actually are just very tiny fish. Anyways I did put them in a breeder net so what should I be feeding them? My LFS doesn't have any food for raising fry. I have some frozen brine shrimp, as well as I can crush up flakes and I am near the end of a container of bloodworms, so it is like a fine powder. Will these foods be okay?
