I don't know what's going to happen as my colony grows out. I'll have to deal with that when I come to it. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by putting silicone in the shells. You mean trying to seal up the tip with silicone sealant? It sounds like a mess, and I'm not sure how well it would work. They make expanding foam... I think it has a flexible nozzle, and they make it for ponds, so it's tank safe. You might be able to push that in there and a little blob would expand to block the end.

I've read posts about fish being stuck in shells, but my multis haven't had a problem with these. I've only had mine for a month, but I have removed shells from the tank with the fish still in them (which you'd think would cause the fish to get as deep in the shell as was fishly possible), then put the shells back in the tank, and nobody got stuck.

Just so you know, I wasn't trying to torture my fish. :) I just couldn't tell which shells had fish and which didn't. When I cleared an area I knew was someone's territory, I figured I must have removed him, and then put all the shells back in.

Heh, will do. It'll be awhile before I get to that point, though. :) You can probably find some on the web, though. That's how I got mine.

I don't mind ordering from the big online places, but their shipping is outrageous! LOL. It'll be a while before I'm ready anyway. I'll try back here first. I'd much rather spend my money with someone that does it for the joy of doing it anyway.

The guy that I got my Multis from still has several. He mentioned that he doesn't mind shipping but with the cold weather upon us he's prefer to wait until it warms up. Once you get ready and if you decide to go with Multis, maybe you can talk him into shipping some to you. Check out this thread over at the ShellDwellers forum: http://www.shelldwellers.com/index.php/topic,2647.0.html to get in contact with him (myselfdotcom). He's a great guy! Also, that forum might help you decide if you'd like the Multis. Lots of useful information on all the shell dweller species.

I'm not sure what's going on in my tank. I haven't seen the fry in a couple of days, and mom is acting like she has eggs now. (She suddenly got skinny again, and she's spending a lot more time in her shell.)
