Fun kind of game, but not for the lounge!

another one i have done was got a 10 gal and was at walmart (first mistake) i bought 3 bala sharks, 3 iredesent sharks, 3 redtail sharks, along with 2 common pleco's and some kind of catfish. WOW what was i thinking didn't clean the gravel or clean anything for that matter set up tank 10 mins later added fish, i do remember i floated the bags in the water for like 5 mins becuse i always heard to do that, needless to say they were all dead with in 3 days, oh the newbie mistakes i have made and all the poor fish who suffered throught it.

Too much gravel

I am currently looking to redo my 20 long since I have enough gravel in there for several tanks. The last tank I had was many years ago with an UGF so currenly my 20 long has a good five inches of gravel (actually they are small pond stones). But the worst mistakes were of course as a kid. I vaguely remember having two black mollies in a goldfish bowl when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Believe it or not though, they lived about 3 months.

Never made any bad mistakes myself. I left my young cousins alone when I was a kid, I told them they could feed them a "little". They feed them the whole "little" can of fish flakes. It was a huge mess! :duh:

A betta in a 2.5 with a heater. No filter, but at least there was a heater :D

I bought: 4 Checkerboard Kribs, 2 Red Zebra, 1 Blue Zebra, 2 Socolofi, 1 Albino Socolofi, 2 Acei, 2 msobo, and was given 4 Kenyi (in case of doa) all on the "go ahead" of my LFS owner saying "Oh yeah they can all live together in your 30 gal tank no problem" I had only had livebearers and tetras up to that point.

I added a platinum ogon koi, 6 inches, and 5 harlequinn rasboras in the same 20 gallon. hahaha i later upgraded to a pond, and I have the koi in there now.

I want to know where you have gone terribly bad, so here it is.

What is the worst "move," or newbie mistake, you have done in fish keeping?

I'd have to say that mine would be buying 2 albino channel catfish for my 29 gallon tank, on the second day it was set up. :headbang2:

What's yours? Don't be shy!:D
Well my first tank i had when i was like 7 or 8 and i let mygrandma talk me into cleaning it out, WITH BLEACH! she thought it would help take care of the alge and we could never use that tank again lol

i tried to set up an indoor "pond" in a 90g metal horse trough. i made my own filter for it, and got some little koi. they died. i got some commons. they died. i got some sarasa comets. they lasted a couple weeks, but eventually they died too. i really don't know what the problem was, or maybe ti was just bad stock (walmart). i initially set it up just as-is with the metal exposed, then when the first fish died i bought a pond liner, emptied it out, put in the liner, and filled it up again. they still died. all tests were normal, and even without the liner in the beginning the pH was normal too. the weirdest thing was that their skin would slough off when they were dead, and it's not like they would be dead for long when i found them. very strange.

I kept an oscar in a 29g for a year. he grew to 9" before i finally got rid of him.

that was before my AC days.. heheh
