One of my cichlids upon being introduced to the tank recieved a pretty good tear all the way down its left fin splitting it into two sections. About 2 days ago I noticed a white patch at the base of the tear and thought great what now. After looking on the net to see what it was ive concluded that it mostly resembles fungus its white and kinda cottony looking. I had to go out that night so couldnt buy any meds. And was out all day today so couldnt buy today it today either. When i got home around 9pm i took a closer look and now its seemed to smooth out and fill the whole tear evenly. I gotta work all day tomorow and then going out again so if it is fungus is it alright to leave it this long or should it be a priority. And if its not fungus will it hurt to add medicine anyways.

I would not worry about it too much. most tears will heal themseves. just make sure to keep you water good and it should heal with no problems in around 1-2 weeks.HTH.
