I am cycling a 54 gal bowfront corner tank which i have put a couple large pieces of driftwood in. I purchased the wood from the lfs, no tannins are leaching out but i have this white fuzzy growth that i have already cleaned off of the wood once and now it is back. How can i get rid of it and is it going to hurt my water quality? I plan on keeping angelfish, german rams, and some cory's. Will the cory's clean this off of the wood?

Best way to clean it is to sterilize it by taking it out and pouring boiling water on it. Eventually it will come back but it wont harm your fish.
You can also bake driftwood at a low temperature (i've done it around 250F). This will give you sustained heat for sterilization.
I baked it for a considerable amount of time. Probably between 45 minutes and an hour. I would say go longer if you have a damp piece of wood as opposed to dry though. My piece was pretty dry already.
This white fuzz is normal!! I just had the same thing happen to me in my tank and I freaked out. I was told that it was normal and lots of people experience the same thing. The white stuff went away on it's own and didn't harm my fish in any way. Just give it time and it will take care of itself. :thm:
