I've been looking at these guys and they look cool. I was wondering if it would be ok you get a couple with my betta in his 5 gallon. Will the betta eat the clams??

sounds like a cool idea... but they might be a bit sensitive seeing as they are filter feeders... u might have to spot feed it like you do marine clams.

maybe a bit bigger than 10 gal would be best, unless you spot feed right before the waterchange

I was looking into these A LOT for awhile and mostly just got negative feedback. Apparently they're really hard to keep because you've got to supplement food for them and it's hard to tell if they're "full." If they starve.. they'll die.. and then your water gets nasty and smells. Not to mention they're not much of an eye-catched cause they'll just burrow and you'll rarely see them. But man, they'll keep your gravel aerated.

they are pretty hard to feed and difficult to tell whether they are alive or dead until its too late.

try your hand with apple snails or ghost/cherry/amano shrimps (which your better might try to eat but its different with each betta.

I would suggest against them for the same reasons. Most FW clams do wind up dying due to starvation, lasting only a few weeks to a few months at best and dying way before you ever notice it in your tank and it becomes way too late.
