I have 4 Dwarf puffers with about 8 or 9 Flagfish. It's been working out great for several months, but I'm wondering about the eating schedule. I use staple foods every other day (which the puffers don't eat), and then use frozen foods every other day which usually the puffers enjoy. They eat till they are VERY round, so I know they are getting enough food every 2 to 3 days, but is this enough? I don't do live foods yet. I'd love to , but don't have the capacity yet. Any problems with these carnivores getting their fill every 2 or 3 days?

How old are they? For adults, yep, that's ample. For juveniles, no--they should never look skinny, and daily feedings are needed. I would encourage you to add live snails to their diet. While not as crucial with dwarves as it is with other puffers, a crunchy diet is still best.

Puffers shouldn't be fed this way anyways... Feed until bulging, but not a beer gut. Then feed every other day.

I have dwarf puffers too, and I was told that you should feed them twice a day. That looked like way too much though, and they like to overeat, so I try to feed mine 2 or 3 bloodworms once a day. Usually as a guide if they look skinny, I feed them. If they're still all full looking, I don't feed them.

Also snails might be a good idea. They may not need them, but it's sure fun to watch them suck the snails out of their shells. :)

Also www.dwarfpuffers.com is a great site for info on these guys, and they have a very helpful forum too.
