Here are a few pics of my africans and some weeds. They are off my phone but not bad quality (really must get around to buying a decent camera...)

I'm finding the Ferns suffering from black/brown spots of algae, but showing good clean new growth as well, which I reckon means I should either trim them down more regularly or perhaps my lighting is not balanced properly (2 x 25w).

The java moss I just let go mental, rightly or wrongly. Trying to find some more of the stuff on the rock at the bottom left of the tank; it took very well as an experiment and I think I would like to grow it as a carpet on the rockwork.

Main reason I added the plants anyway was to help maintain low nitrates and boy do they work. I used to do 2 weekly pwc's of around 50% to keep below 20 ppm, I now do just 1 and am never above 20.

First four pics are of the tank from different angles, last one is just a pic of a nice fish :D

Anyway, thanks for looking; your comments/advice always appreciated.

Great looking!

Great tank, Coler! The new plants look great :) The africans are probably enjoying the rarely seen greenery.

Thanks folks :) It's not to everyone's taste but I'm finding it a fun change from the spartan rockwork look.

DP - it has definitely had a calming effect. probably the availability of more stuff to nibble on (the moss - they don't go after the ferns), and the increase in vertical cover/breaks in line of site. the smaller guys also really like hanging out in the loose moss.

I need to try and get the moss a bit more organised, but for the moment I'm just letting it go wild.

I really like your tank! Even the wild java moss! And your fish look happy with the set up too! Nice!!
