I am thinking about keeping some smaller game species in an aquarium. I was wondering if any of you knew anything about this and good give me some information.
Check your local fish and game laws, in many states its against the law to keep gamefish without a permit. I know here in Vermont is a $1000 fine PER fish if you get caught.

Some people do get caught. In all reality all it would take is someone reporting this thread to the Fish and Wildlife office in his state and he could have someone knockin on his door. Personally I don't feel that threads about keeping native game species are a very smart idea and probably shouldn't be allowed to be posted on here. Its kinda like saying you smoke pot and haven't gotten caught yet, but a lot of people have.
Threads which encourage someone to violate their state laws are in fact illegal, and removed. Keeping game fish is not universally illegal, so advising someone to verify the laws for their location and to abide by them is warranted.
Many game fish are unsuitable for an aquarium, based on size, aggression, and hardiness. Check http://www.nanfa.org/ for more information on appropriate species and setups.
