Garden hoses...potable

Well, it hasn't been an issue that my test kits reflected, or any of my fish.

Remember to flush !

The most important thing to remember is to flush any hose that you will be using. leaching happens when the water sits in the hose.

Flush the water from any hose before use, when water sits in the hose you are more likely to have issues.

I still recommend using a hose marked as 'for potable use', but even then I would flush before use..

Anyone have a camper? they recommend flushing the system at the start of a trip/season to clear any water that has been left in the system.
 
Let's get real here, people. We're talking about a bunch of fish. Fish that no one is going to be eating anytime. The standards for human potable water are very conservative and measured in parts per billion; trying to apply the same standards to your fish is a bit over the top, IMHO.

Very understandable. But when you where a kid did you ever taste water out of a garden hose that was sitting for a while?

On my weekly water changes I just flush the hose for a second or two just to get any residual out of it.
