GBR eggs are now all gone... :(

yesterday, I noticed a ton of eggs from my pair of German Blue Rams. The eggs were laid on an indian almond leaf. The male was guarding them. The only other fish in the tank are 4 cory habrosus. This morning, all the eggs were gone. Did the pair get disinterested in the eggs? or do you think the corys ate them all while the pair wasn't looking. I'm thinking I will remove the corys if I can get eggs again that will hatch.

btw, the tank is a 20g high, low tech planted.

If you missed the eggs the day before, they could have hatched. If it's the first spawn it's also likely that fertilization was not done well, in which case the parents probably ate the eggs themselves. Many possibilities, but definitely keep an extra close eye on the parents for a few days and see if there are fry.

GBR's kinda have to learn to be parents. Normally it takes them 3 or so tries to get it right. They normally will eat those first few batches of eggs. Give them time. Were the eggs white or or kinda opaque? If solid white the male didn't fertilize them.

I breed GBR's. Currently have multiple breeding pairs and have seen this behavior in all of them.

Be patient with them. Give them the right temp of water at about 80 degrees and small frequent water changes helps. Good luck and let me know if i can help.

thx you guys. I took a picture of them and will upload it soon. I believe they were opaque-ish. They are quite young (for their size), so it could have been their first spawn.

Would you happen to have a picture of properly fertilized eggs for comparison?

I will try and find one for you.

If you look at the eggs in the pic above you can see they look white and solid. Not transparent looking. An egg that's been fertilized will be kinda see through not so white, transparent almost. Has a sort of yellowish transparent tinge With a dark spots.
