That is the best gecko set up ever. It looks so natural. I can't give you enough praise. I can't show my poor viper geckos that set up or they'll think I neglicting them. Then they might pack up their crickets and leave.

Vicious, looking really slick. Forwarding this thread to my wife, as she's been looking for a durable DIY backing for her Bearded Dragon tank. I think we might be taking a stab at this on a larger scale (perhaps a 70 wide). Thanks for posting the details. Anything you would have done differently that we should plan on?

You could totally do something like this for your vipers on a smaller scale. My friend made something similar for his and they seem to like it a lot. Of course they hide a lot more than Leopard Geckos do. I'm not entirely sure how much it cost. I was given the foam board and 1/2 a bag of play sand. I used 3 cans of Great Stuff Spray Foam at about $4.00 a can, I think the tile grout was $12.00 and I only used about 2/3 of it. I also bought 4 pieces of 12"x12" ceramic tile for $2.00 a piece. All and all it cost me about 30 bucks to make.
Thanks Vadar! If I was going to make one of these for a Bearded Dragon I would coat the whole thing with 2-3 extra layers of tile grout for strength. BD's are heavier and have much bigger claws then leopard geckos plus some of them are diggers. One thing you have to watch is that when you add more and more layers, the whole thing weights more and becomes easier to snap or crack. I still need to fix a small fissure that I made while placing the wall in the cage. Best of luck if you decide to build one. It's not very hard to do but it can take some time between letting the coats of tile grout dry.
Thanks Rach! You should have seen the male when I first put him in there. He was checking everything out. I just have to make sure the top is on or he'll go for another exploration of my basement.
Yes, they're leopard geckos. I do feed them crickets along with roaches and on the rare occasion wax worms.
