Geophagus surinamensis

Kalen

No problem man they are about 2" right now so it will be some time before they do anything, I am in the fish club here at Louisville LTFF pretty big club, if you get the chance you should stop in and check us out we have monthly meetings every second Sunday of each month with a speaker, we hold 2 auctions a year which turn out to be awesome, its mostly cichlids but i have seen a lot of variety, actually we are having our fall auction next month September 12th you are welcome to come with your family and will not cost you anything and also you can bid on fish, plants and supplies i supply the food to over 50 plus members / hobbyist really a good time for us fish geeks.

At any rate i got them from a club friend.
Hey man thanks for the invite. Only problem with that is I live 3 hours away in Floyd co, which is one county over from the Virginia border haha. I may try to come down for the auction though. My wife has been wanting to go to the mall, and that would give me the perfect opportunity to be down that way.

Cool deal let me know and i can give you my number for directions if you decide you can go man..

Though I havent been to this club, fish club auctions are awesome! Soooo many fish, inverts, plants, gear, tanks, etc usually for a good deal. Last auction I went to I scored a pair of Heros sp."Rotkeil" for $14 :D

As for the geo, looks good! When it gets bigger post some more pics so you can get an accurate ID!

Thanks yep i like to photo fish def be more pict's to come..

Nice man, they are cute little guys! I love growing out juvies, it's so much more rewarding when they get bigger and you end up with a better chance of getting all one species.. I keep a school of 10 Geophagus sp. 'Tapajos' in my 125g and a group of 10 Geophagus Abalios in my 300. I love eartheaters and have some rare Satanoperca as well, best group of cichlids out there IMO. Such a good price too!

I agree with abarilot, looking forward to pics with a little more size on them so we can help you with accurate ID. :D

Awesome fish, great score!

I saw two of these on clearance at Petsmart and was sooo tempted. I know they are destined to end up in a Malawi tank or with Haps or something :( People here are bad about mixing the continents.

Not too many serious cichlid keepers around here, the ones we do have get everything from the fish farm near Tampa as far as I can tell.

how did you get good enough to find free Geos?!?! haha :D

That is an awesome pick up, my roomate has a lot of geos and they are awesome to watch and can be pretty comical...actually they are very comical!

Enjoy em man!
