Hi! I have a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium. My German Blue Ram is sitting under a piece of driftwood at the bottom of the tank. She (I think it's female) also has a bloated belly and red veins bulging slightly from it. This occurred with 2 danios of mine last week but I thought it was because of high ammonia levels in the tank. I lost both danios. I checked the ammonia levels just now and they're fine. Does anyone know what this is and what I should do? I should also note that the fish is rapidly opening and closing it's mouth. Thank you, please help!

Welcome to AC, and sorry to hear about your fish. Bloated abdomen, lethargy, and respiratory distress are symptoms of a bacterial infection commonly known as "Dropsy". How long have you had her?
