Working this tank w my son. Its 140ish gallons. Typically change water every 10 to 14 days, and the quality had been good: nitrite 0 or very close to it, ammonia and nitrates very low.

pH is usually 8 to 8.2

We have a Male and two female GBRs. One of the females has a weird thing on her throat. I don't want to treat for no reason, but haven't been able to figure out what's going on.

There are temperature fluctuations.

I'm going to start by asking who sold you this fish as a german blue ram? It's more like a bolivian ram but I'm still not sure at all. This is another type of cichlid, and it's important to know the fish in question, because at first glance it seems to me that it has a small tumor, perhaps by adjusting the water chemistry to the preferences of the fish, the tumor could disappear, but if that is so then you will need to find a specialized veterinarian who can perform a surgery, in case it is a tumor, of course. If it has variations in temperature then it is generating stress for any fish.

Thank you.
A seemingly reputable fish store in phoenix would be where they came from, though just last night my son was looking at the fish and pictures of gbrs and saying "daddy these dont look like blue rams..."

Veterinarian not going to happen, poor thing....

It's by no means a ram, it seems to me you have an African cichlid but I have no idea which one. Either way you would have species incompatibility as I see some platys in the photos.

Not a tumor, not a GBR, probably a Malawi cichlid that appears to be holding eggs in her mouth. Can you post a clearer pic of the entire fish?
