I was wondering if anybody happened to know about them or have them.....What are they ike in general? Are they entertaining?

I don't have them or anything, Ive seen them in pet stores and stuff but I do know that they are pretty cool looking and pretty entertaining fish. Maybe I just think they are entertaining though, I think my guppies and stuff are very entertaining too. I can watch them for hours. In fact, I do watch them for at least an hour total a day.

german blue rams are Mikrogeophagus ramirezi(papilochromis)

I would be leary of the source as many have been exposed to hormones and may not be healthy.
if you can get them from a local breeder you stand a better chance of getting healthy stock.

they are fairly short lived in the cichlid world living on average 2-3 years,

they get between 2-3" and are generally a peaceful cichlid(unless they are a mated pairand spawning.)

they generally come from slightly acidic water and like fairly warm temps (82-84)
in general they are not considered hardy fish and prefer pristine water condition..if you keep discus you can probably keep blue rams.
there is also a gold color morph of the same species.

if you have w ell established tank and have a good maintenance schedule..you should be able to keep blue rams.

they are a delightful fish and very entertaining.

if you want rams but want to try a hardier species try the bolivian ram (mikrogeophagus altispinosa)
not quite as colorful but every bit as entertaining.

One of the tougher challenges in the small fish hobby, these require soft water. I recommend using RO water and supplementing nutrients. In my experience, these fish do poorly in hard water. With RO water you also need to monitor pH closely, as there is no buffering capacity in RO water.
