Hey what do y'all think about a breeding pair of German Blue Rams with cherry shrimp
I just want the shrimp to help clean the algae.
I don't really care if the shrimp get eating because the shrimp are in a 20 gallon, and didn't do anything to make shore they stade good quality,
like taking the good one and putting them in another tank, plus I gave all the good one away so i have like 200 non good cherry shrimp.
Ok now I was wondering if the cherry shrimp would eat the eggs/fry.
The tank they will all be in is a 20 long some what planted sand tank.

The shrimp won't eat the eggs/fry. I use rcs in my egg/fry tanks to help keep things clean and from what I can tell, they skim over the good eggs. The rams will definitely eat the smaller shrimp, but if you don't care then it should be okay, although I wouldn't put so many that the rams pig out.

Ok thanks.

blue rams may eat the shrimp though.. if you want shrimp you might want something larger like a singapore or amano shrimp

+1 on this. I have rcs in my 20long with my breeding pair of P. taeniatus"Moliwe". They have managed to take out most of my rcs even though the largest taenie is under 2". My tank is heavily planted with lots of java moss to hide in too.

I am aware of people who successfully have rams and rcs in the same tanks together, though the rcs colony is pretty large and able to withstand the rams picking off any juvies, and also the tanks tend to be heavily planted, giving the rcs plenty of cover. I think it'll work, so long as your rcs colony is not too small.

I have a GBR in a moderately planted tank with RCS and have been pleasantly surprised to see that the shrimp have survived. They even appear to be reproducing successfully. So it can be done, although I don't recommend it as an easy thing.

Juvies will probably get munched but if there's enough cover and such some may survive...I miss my rams...aw.....
