German Trucks

Hey, someone in my office sent me an email with pictures of German trucks with painted trailers. I'm not sure if this is a real truck or not, but I figured it was appropiate for AC.

I don't know, labont, I've seen alot of other fotos of trucks airbrushed with super-realistic images (Photorealism, in artworld). It could very well be real.

Either way, it's beautiful and I want my living room wall painted like that!

By the way, labont, your pit bull (Drako) is beautiful. I love pit bulls because they are absolutely some of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. I'm too scared to get one, though, because I'm afraid I'd have to move out of town when they keep getting banned. I had a Doberman, and the sh*t people gave me about him (threatening to kill him) made me cry almost every week. He was a sweet dog, too. People p*ss me off

I've seen a couple of these in Germany. Basically, this type of truck looks like a tractor with a "soft-sided" trailer. In short, the trailer has a rectangular frame with very heavy tarps on each side. Boxed cargo fits in, they secure the tarps, and away they go.

I've seen some pretty incredible ads put on these while motoring down the autobahn. I thought it was a hard-sided box trailer at first until I saw the sides move just a little in the wind at road speed. They really can crank them down until they're really taut, and you can't easily see the tensioning ratchets a lot of times.

I think the most extravagent illustration I saw on one of these trucks was an ad for orange juice!

Why the soft sides? So you can back the trailer into a bay and unload from three sides. Makes it easy to get cargo that is in the middle of the trailer, too, while keeping the other stuff on board for dropoff at a later location. Some nations in the EU have OTR drivers pay taxes based on number of axles, not just GWT, so if the load doesn't merit three axles, they pull a set up (like some dump trucks in the US can).

I call photochop.

There was a small gallery of similar trucks posted by Kveeti in December of last year, similar kind of thing, but there were (from memory) 6 trucks. the majority of the pics looked exactly the same, only the designs on the trucks were different; and one had some kind of motion blur to give the effect of movement.

the gallery was removed or I'd have linked to that thread.

I agree.

But, in answer to the query without a question, these types of rolling ads do exist in Germany and elsewhere. Some of them can be pretty snazzy.

Yes, sorry there are real ones similar to this, but this one is fake. It is a photoshop.

P.S. thanks plah, He is a great dog. Havent seen him in awhile though as he is down at a breeder in Florida. He belongs to a friend of mine. I personally have 17 of them right now though. 8 adults 4 males 4 females. And 8 pups 5 and 3. and I have one "pet" Pit Bull as well.

yes, he is a magnificent animal. i've always loved pit bulls and though they got a bad rap.

yup, labont started a thread in GCC a while back re: pit bull reputations

It's a long thread, so I admit I haven't read all of it, but the article is great! Good job advocating pit bulls, labont. I'm so tired after my last two purebred rescues (racing greyhound and neglected/abused Doberman) that I'm going to give the advocate thing a rest and just get my next dog, a mixed-breed, from the pound.
