Gettin off the trim

I just scored 7 cracked tanks from work and am going to replace the cracked panels. Yes, I have built many tanks in the past of both all glass and plywood. But I have never had to deal with taking off the trim on a new tank. Any ideas on how to get it off would be appreciated. Tanks are 2 - 40 breeders and 5 20's .

if you could find a product that eats at silicone without affecting the plastic you might have an easyer time of getting the trim off without tool marks.

I admit its not much help but maybe places that sell project silicone might have a better idea on this thought.

Try contacting the manufacturer. If they sell the frames, they should be able to give you some tips on removal and replacement. Good luck!

PS- I bet a dremel or similar rotary tool would come in handy. If you could cut the top of the plastic off just above the glass you could just slip a razor knife between the remaining plastic and the glass to cut the silicone. I have never done this before so keep in mind it's just my $.02 Also, remember black silicone is available. IMO it looks much neater than the standard translucent stuff.
