Getting 2 new fishes today.

If these are to go in your 10 gal tank, then I definately wouldn't recommend the Mandarin (and it's a dragonet not a goby!). There won't be enough live rock in your tank to support the pods that support the mandarin. Plus your tank isn't really old enough yet.
 
Yup. Mine ate frozen foods too but ran out of pods. = X
 
I thought once they eat other stuff, you are home safe...this is tough. I am setting up a 75G (90#LR) with 20G refum to get a mandarin. What else can I do to make sure there will be enough pods? (can't afford weekly pod bottle.)
 
I don't tend to take risks with live animals.

I agree with the posts that you need a large pod population and pretty much have it set in your head that they won't eat other foods. Most of these fish die, so why take them out of the wild to think you'll be one of very few people that will have them eat other stuff?
