So i just got home from getting the tank... and unfortunatly, i didnt measure the tank at the guys house and just assumed it was 300 gallons like the ad stated, but when i got it home and measured the tank it turns out its 8'L x 20"W x 24"T which is 200 gallons... not 300... :'( But he also through in a 20 gallon and a 10 gallon but with light hoods, glass and filters and an emperor 400 filter. so not a complete loss
Oh well... its still an 8' tank and will still make an awesome stingray and other assorted large freshwater species tank, also less water for water changes!
anyway, heres a pic, im eating lunch now, after i finish eating, time to start cleaning!
All in all it cleaned up really nice! there is some glue residue where it looks like someone at one time had divided the tank into 3 sections then later removed removed the dividers, just gotta take my time and lightly sand down along the line of glue residue then buff it out. All i used was some water and the yellow side of a kitchen sponge, very easy, cleaned right up. Also, i talked to the seller and he is going to refund $50 to me since it wasnt a 300 gallon like we thought, so i got it for $150
The tank came with the stand, but i am not going to be using this stand, i have a 90 gallon tall tank that some of you may remember i got that is scratched to hell, i made a post about it in the DIY section asking how to remove scratches that i am going to make into a sump. When its all said and done it will be a 290 gallon system. THIS is the tank im going to use for the sump.
Ive heard 180 gallons is the sweet spot for rays, this being an 8' tank 20" wide, it should work out perfect!
that is an awesome tank. cant wait to see what you fill i with... dont think of it as "putting the girl friend to work" think of it as a lesson in the finer points of fish keeping lol She will thank you in the end
