Getting a 55 gallon tank :3

A QT tank is always a good idea, but I get the feeling you'll set it up as a regular tank without much time passing ;)

Seems to be a vicious cycle...oh I'll just use that as a QT - eventually turn it into a display tank - oh, need to buy a new QT tank...

The only way to break it seems to be to have a whole bunch of empty tanks that you're not using. :)

not that I'm speaking as someone with 15 empty 10g tanks in the basement right now.

I've been there before...

which reminds me they had some awesome deals on coral when I was last in there; I should go again.

I think I'd personally keep the tank, and run 2 filters on the 55 at first, to keep 1 seeded and available to switch to another tank.

keeping endlers in a 37 will result in a large number if you have a mix of gender.. but you likely know that. having somewhere to sell or gift fry or juvies will prevent a need for a bigger tank.

I love Nature's Cove. More knowledgeable then Petsmart. XD nicer fish and more to pick from. I can get the filter media from them cheaper sometimes.. depends on which ones.

The 10g will be put underneath the 55 gallon in the stand. I was going to put the old media from the filter into the new filter to help cycle the tank.

I only have male endlers and that's all I will keep. The clown pleco is remaining in the 37 along with the black neon tetras. I just picked up a baby BN Pleco and put him into the 37 for now. He or she will be put into the 55.

That's not necessarily much of a selling point. :)

But, there are a bunch of awesome fish stores in north jersey.. depending how far you can travel. I've been impressed with a large number of them and the larger ones seem to have a great variety of stock.

I'm going to look up some that may be in Sparta... I may rethink the stocking for the 55 and the restock of the 37....

I saw candy-cane tetras at NAture's Cove and loved them! I may do some of them for the 55, they will pop with the black background I will be getting for the 55.

Any ideas what to restock the 37 with?

I thought up a new stock list for the 55g. I was talking to a worker at NAture's Cove and he liked some of my ideas.

New stock list:
1-2 angelfish
1 Bristlenose Pleco
5-8 kuhlis
8-12(or more) candy cane Tetras
Trio of Golden Rams
trio of live barriers (for a live food source of fry)
maybe the albino rainbow that's if he stays docile.

Restock of 37g:
HM Betta or King HM Betta
4-6 endlers, all male
hillstream loach
4-6 panda cories
1 clown pleco
6-10 rummynose tetra
1-2 checkerboard loaches (i think that's what they are called)

I will also redo everything in the 37... and the 55 will be done differently then what I'm used to.

Just a heads up for the hillstream loach - they need a higher flow of water than the other fish. Maybe you should consider some other small fish. Just my two cents though. I have a trio of otos in my 10gal and they are really cool, stay small and do a really nice job with algae( i still feed them wafers though).maybe give otos a try?

I have the hillstream in my 10g right now and it's been doing great. The flow in the 37g is decently strong and it pushed the fish downward. I tried otos.. I can't seem to keep them alive long. I'm turning the 10g into Q/T once I have everything settled.
