getting cichlids to eat snails

how do u get cichlids like large buttifokeri to eat snails.do u crack open the shell or what.My buttifoker goes crazy and bites the shell and pushes it across the tank
 
lol. sorry in advance because you are probably being serious, but I haven't heard of a fish called a buttifoker. and it cracked me up. thanks for the laugh, even if it was unintentional. take it easy!
 
I found out that angels can aquire a taste for escargo..and when they do..the population diminishies quickly
 
I pick the pond snails out of my community tank and drop them in my JD's tank; very rarely to they get more than 2 inches below the surface!

OOOO MY GOD I GET IT LOL .....TOOK AWHILE BUT WHEN I GOT IT I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHIN!!!
 
I find that crushing the snails and offering them that way to the fish teaches them to recognize it as food. Some of the larger snails can have really tough shells, though, especially in hard water (mmmm, calcium)!
