I have a boat out at the Islandia Marina in Mission Bay, CA and was wondering, can you make your own live rock? just get some dead corals at the LFS and tie to to a rope and drop it off the side and let life grow on it?
my only concern is mission bay between La Jolla and San Diego is fairly cold water 67*-71* average. would the life that grows on the rock or coral be different than what I am looking for? I have left lines for the boat hanging off the side and have had tons of life on it in a very short period of time. Of course there would be a good period of quarentene.
