and whos to say i will set them ALL up, maybe a few, so i can atleast seperate the malawis from the peacocks and haps.. with one tank for the plecos and multies ( 4 tanks, one for malawi, one for hap/peacock one for the BN plecos, one for multies ) and leave the rest sit as extras or sell some.... and use some tanks as hospitals/fry tanks.....

livebearerfreak is going to do this no matter what anyone says. He's going to put as many tanks as can possible fit in that room.

I have followed just about every thread livebearerfreak has started since I've joined this forum. Every far out thing he does, he asks for suggestions. And every single suggestion ever given to him about any subject, he dismisses. 100% of the time. No matter what he has ever set out to do, he's already made up his mind and nothing is going to change it.

I'm the new one here and don't understand why the ones that has seen evidence of this too keep telling him of the potential dangers of his actions KNOWING he's going to ignore them.

I'm glad your excited about your new fishroom livebearerfreak. I hope it all turns out well for you.
you have not read every thread i made then..... like i said, go back and read ALL my threads before making your statement! and this thread isnt about my apt.. its about my new future fish room whether its one tank or 20 tanks ( 4 or 5 tanks it will be ) again... read all my threads before making your statements, your post really irritates me... lets get back on subject please.... and to the older members that know me, knows how much i have grown up since joining this forum........

I want him to be happy and to have a fish room, but there is just no way I could ever read another post of his if he decided to ignore all of the warnings given to him by setting up even a few more tanks in that room without reinforcing the floor, having a good long talk to the land lord about it, and checking the breaker box. All of the tanks listed (with stocking) were 20g or larger, that is 160g minimum if he sets up one more tank. He is lucky he hasnt had problems with his 75 and 55 already.
where did you get i had a 75? i use to... only have a 55 and 10...

Everyone here has said their piece and given LBF solid advice on what he needs to do. Let's give him a chance to follow through with it before slamming him in this thread (regardless of his history). I really don't want to lock the thread.

LBF, we hope you take this advice seriously.
ill most likely be using that room to hold my tanks. been thinking of moving to my grandads which has better flooring. will most likly set up one more 55 and two 40Bs. one 55 with malawi, one 55 with peacock/hap, one 40B with BN plecos, one 40B with multies tell i move.

And yet here you are....
I'm with you platy, seems a lot of people need to go back to kindergarden and relearn the golden rule.

im with platy and bally on this. i was trying to encourage him about the fact that some landlords are fine with tanks aslong as you have insurance. really this is just an internet forum, glad to see there are some people like platy and bally on here. and nerdy means very well but honestly thrak there is no need to belittle doug and make snide remarks in his thread. either voice your criticism in a constructive manor or shut up kindly and move on.

thank you... and ill update with pics when i get the tanks/equipment :) not saying i am going to set them up, cause i do plan on moving sometime in a few months, thats why i am holding off on ordering fish too.. just going to set up a few more tanks to seperate the fish i have now ( specie tanks ) but will update on when i get the stuff, even selling some stuff on here/craigslist ( like the RO/DI unit and CO2 tanks. )

Uh I think all of you are overreacting ... 2000 lbs might seem like a lot but it's just 10 people x 200 lb/person. So you would be scared to bring 10 people into your room? And that's not even counting the weight of furniture, etc. Of course it's good to be cautious and check with the landlord etc but it's lame to chastise someone for something that you have no idea about. I worked in architecture and civil engineering so I think I have a little perspective on this.

And best of luck to liverbearerfreak, post some pics when you are done!

when i got my apt, i asked about the tanks, she says she dont care as long as i have no water damage or any damage. forgot to mention that.

*EDIT* Point already covered in previous reply

In LBF's defense, he didn't start this particular thread looking for advice. People just started bombarding him with it. It may not seem like much of a difference, but it really is. It's a totally different situation if you quite literally "asked for it".

That being said, why do we continue to do so? I suppose we're just hoping that one day, our warnings and advice will sink in. And ocassionally, people like this do listen, including LBF. It may be rare compared to how often the advice is ignored, but it's still worth making the effort.

If nothing else, the next person in a similar situation that is considering doing the same thing may listen to the advice. There's a lot of lurkers and google searchers that come across these pages in addition to the active members. I spent a year stumbling upon Aquaria Central forum posts related to questions that I had, just through Google Search, before I ever joined or posted. That's why I couldn't in good conscience just say good luck, or decline to comment at all if a certain point hasn't already been brought up. Though I was late to this thread, and all the important points have already been made, not to mention an admin has requested people lay off the advice, and beating dead horses surely qualifies as some kind of animal abuse or at the very least some gruesome part of a satanic ritual. So that frees me up to say...

Good luck Doug. I sincerely hope it all works out for you. I'd recommend moving in with your granddad if you can, hopefully that will free up some more realistic options for you.
