This is why you are burning out.
Stop changing tanks and stocking. Pick a single tank, stocking and setup and stick with it for a while. The startup phase is the funnest part of the hobby, but also the easiest to burn through quickly and lose interest in if overdone.
I agree. It's best to just set up some sustainable tanks. African cichlids are great, but for the most part you need at least a 40 breeder. If you like the color and activity of mbuna, try going with something like barbs...I have some red glass barbs with amazing color, they are the centerpiece of my 55 along with rainbowfish, a red tailed shark, two killifish and a black paradise gourami.
They would definitely be fine in a 29 gallon tank, and you could still have room for some cories on the bottom
