Wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured FW gets the most looks........

The wife and I are doing a remodel of our house which means moving some of our bigger tanks. I have a 125 that's gotta be moved. Does anyone know the best way (if there is one) to get the stand indentation out of the carpet? The tank has been in place 2-3 years......thanks in advance.......Gregg

Carpet washer. Vaccum the area very well with a regular vaccum, then use a carpet cleaner (ie, a wet washer). When the carpet is still wet, use a heavy brush to pull the nap upright, and let dry this way. It will take about a month of regular vaccuming to make it look normal, but it will work.

Thanks Onion.......

Curious. What type of brush can you use on the nap that wont fray it?............Gregg

I used the brush that came with a bottle of Resolve Carpet Stain Remover. It's got thick bristles, and I never has a problem with is fraying the strands during regular use, so figured ir would work for this as well.

My Grandmother was always one to be changing the furniture around and when she would she would be left with the indents on the carpet. She used to take an ice cube and put it where the indent was and cover it with a bowl or cup (sometimes even a cookie tray). When the ice had melted into the carpet she would then just blot up any excess and brush it over with her hand, and it was back to normal.:D Sometimes Grandma's do know best!

If you happen to have one of those little hand-held steamers (Eureka hot shot), they work great. I don't know how your carpeting is, but on ours the brush I found worked well and didn't catch is one of those hair brushes with the plastic (nylon?) 'bristles' that have little knobby things on the ends. They are spaced quite wide apart, about 1/4 inch on the rows and 1/2 inch between rows. (Test on an inconspicuous small area first, I guess.)

i have this black and decker scum buster i got from wal mart. it comes with an attachment specifically for picking out matted carpet. i've used it several times and have been pretty surprised how well it works.

good luck.
