I will be getting my tank, hardware, co2 and substrate in about a week. Am I better to start off with minimal lighting and minimal fertilizer and gradually add to it? I ask this because I have read many posts of people who overdid the lighting and fertilizer to begin with and ended up with a big algae mess.

What level of lighting and type will you have? what plants have you selected?

Most importantly, good luck and can't wait to see what you do!

Thanks! I have looked at a lot of plants - so many that I can't remember the names :( About 75% of them in the tank will be tall and thin and go in the back part of the aquarium. I am trying to simulate a forest look. I have seen some plants like this but do not know how to make the decision. I want something that will be rooted but will have a shallow root structure and will allow me to plant them densely together.
