GFO vs AO

FWIW, I am still going to use GFO, the high capacity stuff from bulkreefsupply. I just started this thread to find out if there was any more real information about AO and how it really compared to GFO. Since there still isn't any new information like I hoped, and also after 48 hours of using AO my phosphates are only dropping .01 per day (.09 starting, .08 after 24 hours, .07 after 48 hours) I think I like the effectiveness of GFO over AO in how quickly it works. GFO just doesn't seem to last as long.

Good read, im debating, fuge or fuge with chemi pure elite or 'GFO"

Or scrubber.. ;) That is my next major project now. I am leaning towards Amphiprion's point of view now. Why pay for all these products when you can make something very easily and cheaply that will pay for itself 100x over just in the first year.

I am going through the high capacity GFO just as fast as the regular it seems and with the work and cost involved with replacing the media, a scrubber is now looking like the best option for phosphate control. The scrubber will help out in many other ways as well, like reducing your water changes down to 10-20% every 2 weeks. I am still going to run my skimmer, but the goal is to not have to buy anymore phosphate removal media. Since I have a dual media reactor that I will just run carbon in it and only plug the pump in to run the reactors as needed.

Chemi-pure elite gets very costly very fast. I would only recommend that for people with Pico size tanks were there really are no other options, 5G and less tanks.
