Ghost Shrimp Experts?

theotheragentm. its not his stomach. which is awesome to watch slosh back and forth.
but its larger and around the organs.

i agree intr4ncewetrust. i think ill just disopse of him in a couple days. i deff would never feed my fish something like that. its pretty gross and very visable. she came like that from petland.

By 'dispose of', I hope you mean humanely killing. Best thing to do, IMO, is to take it out and lop off it's head, if you have the guts. By far the quickest death out there, maybe even better than squishing.

O yea quick and painless.

j/c how do you not humanely kill a .19 ghost shrimp? lol pull it apart slowly or something? who'd do that. i think anyone would just pinch his little head right off

You'd be surprised. I probably would be able to do it if I saw a worm writhing around in it, but it's like killing the fish you catch; Most people (asside from fisherman, or serious aquarists in this case) are too soft to kill things like that. They'd rather flush it down the toilet, leave it out to dry, put it in the fridge, etc, where they wouldn't have to see it die. It's funny, because it's a helluva lot crueler way to dispose of the animal, yet they do it because they seem to think it will hurt more if they see it die.

Good for you for having the guts to kill something the good & messy way, instead of the clean & painful way. I wouldn't consider them just by their price, though; I'm guessing you'd do it to a 5$ bumblebee shrimp just as fast.

-DP ;)

yep lol.

I didnt dispose of him thought yet? it might be painfull? i am trying raise brine shrimp and i put him in that tank to see if he will survive the switch. 1 day and counting.

still tho anyone seen theses or heard of em?

how long does it take to acclimate shrimp to half or full sw?

he only lasted 2 days and died.

Would a single ghost shrimp be okay in a community tank (see sig)? Thinking of getting a few more shrimp for my tank, now that the snail population has (sadly) decreased by half and I think I only have 1 shrimp now, unless they're really good at hiding in my tank.

lol yea you can get more shrimp. for the past week i thought that my 2 either got eaten or died of old age, and what do you know... Today one came out and its nice and big so i moved him into my other tank with less predators.
