YAYA! I suppose I will see what happens. I just filled up the 2 gal w/ dechlorined water and will add gravel to it and use bubbler too thats it besides teeny decors for it.

Snails don't care much about the water. I've put snails into my uncycled tanks and had no issues. The Ghost Shrimp however will need the tank to be cycled. If you're using gravel from an already established tank that might have enough bacteria to do for that tank.

I would say the water change schedule depends on amount of snails/Shrimp. The shrimp will probably create a little more bio-load then the snails. But if it's stocked pretty good without a filter I would suggest water changes twice a week. Of course the only way to know for sure is testing/experimenting. Anything on this subject is educated guesses.

Hope that helps,
Curtis

I've got snails and two ghost shrimp in my planted 1g, I think you've chosen great inhabitants for your tiny tank.
How about grabbing a HOB nano-filter (there are a few brands on the market) designed for teeny tanks, putting a compact fluorescent desk lamp over the tank and filling it with plants? The critters will love it, and it'll give you something serene and beautiful to watch. Here are some recent pics of my little pico, to show you what I mean :D

Neat!! I like your teeny tank! It looks great! I guess I can work towards that. Will try it w/o filter and do water changes biweekly. I've added gravel to it from my 29g. I added a teeny plastic and rock decor in it to make it look somewhat alive until I get the shrimps and snails in it.

Why not add a plant or two? That would be a kind of filter. Just throw in a water lettuce and let it float.
I could. I don't have any good lights for it anyways. Right now, it has gravel, some decors and now 3 snails and 4 shrimp in it. :dive2:
