Ghost shrimp turning white???

Myth it may be, but I practice iodine addition as well. If you try rearing Amano fry without it I think you will have problems (lots of molts there), or just maintaining some of the showier Macrobrachium shrimp (which used to be a problem for me). You either use iodine-rich or iodine-supplemented foods, or I can neither rear nor maintain through serial molts. My tap water BTW is GH ~9, KH 7.

Hmmm. Maybe it's more needed by FW crustaceans? Or maybe the marine salt mixes include enough iodine to meet any need?

i've had populations last several months...it's hard to gauge, because they are always preyed upon by something. there are a couple "king ghost shrimps" as i call them that are much much larger than the others that have persisted for at least 3 or 4 months in my turtle's tank.

and the white one i was referring to in the post above is still alive. he's been white for at least 3 weeks, so it doesn't necessarily mean that death is imminent.

Okay, so here's a question. If I were to add iodine, how would I measure the amount I give? Are we talking one or two drops every water change?

This would be for a 29g and an 8g.
