ghost shrimp vs RCS - who is bigger?

I snagged a few ghost shrimp this weekend as a little experiment to see if they'll make it in my community tank. Some look like juvies and some appear to be adults. Three days in and everybody is accounted for. There is even a berried female.

My question is: What is the difference in size between an adult ghost shrimp and an adult RCS? I've never seen a RCS in person.

Ghost shrimp up to "2" get slightly bigger than rcs up to "1.5"

Ok, thanks. I thought some of these ghosties looked pretty big. I'll stick to them for now. The RCS are small enough to become a meal methinks.

it's possible, I have read cases of aggressive ghost shrimp. Gotta be something in the water :lipssealedsmilie:

I wasn't talking about the shrimp eating shrimp but that never crossed my mind! The fish I'm most concerned about is my pictus cat but so far so good. The pictus seems more concerned with the food that he doesn't have to chase. I think if the shrimps make it a week I'll be in the clear.

Here's a pic of one of these mofos.

They were cracking me up tonight. I threw in some sinking shrimp pellets for the cories and the ghosties went nuts and started stealing them and hiding in the anacharis with their loot.

Unfortunately I took some completely worthless pictures of this activity.

i love ghost shrimp, defiantly under-rated. but iv seen them snag a guppy fry, a little meaner than rcs

Don't be so sure on that. The pictus cat will get will get a lot bigger then the shrimp. Around 10" so even if they make a week in the long run the shrimp will become food.

I've never seen ghost shrimp become aggressive with anything besides algae and uneaten, rotting food. I've housed them with RCS and livebearer fry (not at the same time, I would never keep livebearers with RCS), and they have never molested either of them

RCS, on the other hand, LOVE ghost shrimp plankton
