Ghost shrimp

I assume ghost shrimp are the same as other varieties of freshwater shrimp. I was told that any variety of shrimp need a heater and a constant temperature in the tank.

Havent had problems with mine, granted they are blue shrimp not ghost, but I would try to put in a heater and see if that doesnt help with their mortallity.

Ghost shrimp (Palaemonetes spp.) are Palaemonids, as opposed to Atyids; as natives of North America, they possess a broader range of thermal tolerance than tropical Caridina/Neocaridina.

Yip, I'll second what Vner says. Especially since they live in the lakes around here. They can take coldwater temps.

So are all the little balls in the bottom of a ghost shrimp the eggs?

How easy are they to get to reproduce? I was thinking of using my 28 gallon hex to raise shrimp as food for my eels.

They've probably eaten 60 ghost shrimp in the last 2 weeks. :(
