I just got some ghost shrimp at PetSmart and brought them home, I looked in the bag before I put them in. One is pregnant, the problem is that shrimp is it has a big "~1 inch" long brown tube coming off its back. Where the tube is a slight to medium hump on its back. What is that tube? Should I be worried about infecting my tank with what ever it is? Also, will black mollies eat shrimp?

I love my ghost shrimp. My mollies ignore them. It's funny watching the shrimp trying to eat off the surface. They are fun to watch. They actually defend their food from the fish. They clean EVERYTHING including the snails, plants, eachother, corys....the list goes on and on. They even eat poop. When I choose fish I make sure that they are shrimp friendly.

Mollies will eat the shrimp if they are large enough, and that 'tube' is likely a parasite....ghoct shrimp often carry some sort of parasite, most of which are harmless to fish, some of which are not.

I found the shrimp dead today..but should I be worried about infecting the rest of my tank????
