Im getting some ghost shrimp (20 for $1!!!) - if I put 25 in my 20 gallon and 15 in my 10, see other inhabitants in my sig, would that be overdoing it? Also, do inverts need to be quarantined the same way fish do?

hmm ive read on certain websites that more than around 8 of them in 10 gal is the limit cause of aggresiveness.. the bigger ones make life miserable for the little ones... but then again i dont have ghost shrimp as of yet so i dont know the specifics.. i do know mtiller has helped me out on all of my ghost shrimp questions as of yet

Ghost shrimp do not have the same bio-load that fish do but from your sig I do think it would be over doing it with that many. Also inverts do not have the same diseases that fish do but ghosts do eat dead things so quarintine IMO would still be advised. I quarintine my ghosts for at least 7 days feeding them algae wafers. Then their off to be food for my GSP's.

So how many would be ok in my tanks? I am planning on moving some fish around (danios and 1 platy to the 10), and later getting some rasbora and a gourami in the 20, if it makes a difference. Do you know how much bio-load a shrimp does have, compared to a fish? (Like, 2 shrimp = 1 fish?)
