Actually, they are fed Wardley shrimp pellets, tetra colour bits and tetra large floating cichlid sticks.

the get large freeze dried Krill usually once or twice a week.

I am a firm believer that a well fed fish is a healthy fish (assuming you keep the water clean).

water changes are a labor of love. We have a responsibility to our pets.

I certainly agree. My fish get a variety of 6 or 7 prepared foods, and I personally make some foods for them from time to time as well. I try to do a 30-50% water change at least once a week, and I keep lots of live plants in the tank, both to reduce nitrates between water changes, and to provide some extra comfort for my fish.

one of the big barbs lost a scale the other day and I could not believe how large it actually was. It was larger than a $2 canadian coin. You only actually see just the tip of the scale on the fish, the rest is underneath the overlapping scale beside it:

Thanks! they are sort of unique to me, because they are an under-appreciated and overlooked fish in our hobby.

I think they are nicer than "standard" tinfoil barbs, although I love both varieties.
