That's something I see all too often with arowanas, unfortunately.
I agree, it is sad. I kept them for yrs without them ever developing that. It is quite easy.

I've heard that the eye thing is caused from them being kept in captivity. In the wild, they are always looking up for their prey, ready to jump out of the water to catch it. In captivity, they have to look down for their food a lot of the time, especially when fed feeders. Is this true?

Interesting read about droop eye. It was one of the first results I got so I don't know how credible it is but definitely evokes quite a bit of thought on the subject

Have have kept numerous aros and never had a single one that had drop eye. I kept ping pong balls in my tank and kept them well fed as well as fed them floating food or hand fed them with tongs.
