Hope the name caught your attention! I got a yellow tang today as a gift from a family member who knows nothing of the fish world and just bought me one he thought was a nice looking fish (which it is). I have a 33 gal and the fish he gave me was a yellow tang:eek: it love the fish and have it in my tank, because i do not want to be rude and return the fish to the pet store i was thinking of upgrading to a 45 gal tank. I know this is not much of an upgrade but $$ is tight. Would it be worth it for the fish to upgrade or should i just try and take it back to the pet store? I really like the tang but i dont want it to die because of the size of my tank (i also dont know the store he got it at)???I will post a pic soon.

her it is:I named him (her) "speedy gonzales" what a fast fish.

Looks like a lovely tang there...

People will prolly dissagree, but, personally, i would smuggle it back to the fish shop for credit....Just a personal preference that i dont like tangs in small tanks...

you could also check with the store you normally use and see if they will give you credit for it

Or upgade to a 75 and keep it!!!

I think i will upgrade to a 90 gal and in the meantime keep the fish at my frinds house who has a 90 gal. If my friend says no i will take it back to a store and get credit and buy a new one when i upgrade.I am going to have to do some serious saving. I never really noticed how cool these yellow tangs are untill they are in your own system and out of the pet shop, I may keep him in my tank for today and tommorow. thanks for the help everyone.

That's a good idea. I've had my yellow tang in a 30 gallon for the past 3 days due to a tank upgrade (had to sell the other in order to put the new one in its place, just waiting for the water to settle to add the rock back in and resetup). He isn't too happy, as he came out of a 56 gallon and is stuck in this small tank. I'd try your friend first, then look around for prices, try craigslist, even post a wanted ad. Always worth a try to get one cheaper.
