GILL FLUKES or ICH

When the electric blues came out I was afraid to purchase one( the parrot was too big and I heard alot of people were having problems with them)About a year ago I got a reg JD the parrot I had for years. To anwer the question they kinda take turns, but when one starts acting skittish it triggers the other. When there not ill there very friendly (out in the open ).Are the EBJDs smaller than the cons?Any aggression issues?Ive heard to raise the EBJDs they should be kept alone, there fragile fish, everything must be perfect for them.I would think cons could stress them out.

I got 4 of them and out of that 4 only 2 survived. This was last year so they are almost a year old and they are about 3"-4". I do 50% water changes every week. The cons i just got and they are babies only about 1"
There is no problemd between any of them.

The only problems i have with the EBJD's are like i said they go through stages, they will eat and act fine for 3 months and then the next 3 months they will not eat and get crazy.

I believe its a parasite, the meds get rid of the adult stage but they dont get rid of the eggs?If i can figure this out Ill let you know. But I have had this going on for almost a year.

liv2padl's posting is the best I have seen around on this...

I just got through a nasty ick infection (lost one fish out of 60 before I realised what was going on...saved the other 59...

I used a combination of salt (3 teaspoon strength) heat (29.5 Celcius) and three half-strength treatments of a malachite green/formalin medication along with increase in water change regimen over several weeks.

Of the 59 survivors, 58 have come out 100%, there is some damage to a blue ram I am monitering to see if he can make it back to a normal life...

NB - fish shops will try to tell you ich can live in gravel for months then suddenly appear due to stress, temp, water change etc. This is BS. Either the parasite is in your tank (and using the fish as part of its life cycle), or it is completely eradicated. there is no half-way. The shop is just trying to get themselves out of accepting responsability for selling infected fish... The thing is, the ich is usually from the shop's suppliers, so a good LFS will accept that they gave you ich and reconsider that supplier...
