I'm thinking of setting up a tank (eventually) with a pair of angels as centerpiece. What is a good size, arrangement, mates, etc for angels?

You're going to need something as large as a 29 before you get angels. Don't get a 30, because it won't be tall enough. I had angels in my 37, and now I can't imagine having them in anything shorter, but a 29 will be fine.

As for tank mates, stick with things that won't nip their fins or compete for territories. Rams, corydoras, platies, and various tetras come to mind. I am a personal fan of lemons, rummy noses, and glolites for angel tank mates. Don't get anything that has any sort of reputation as being nippy.
