I have a 40g long without a frame, I think it's homemade. I bought a 4ft long glass top & need ideas on how to keep it on the tank & hold the light.

I'm thinking maybe 2 short pieces of j track (?) plastic siliconed to each side to hold the non-hinged part of the top with a couple rubber stick on dots for bumpers along the front hinged edge. Strong enough?

Or maybe something similar out of thin wood, kind of U-shaped with a backstop?

Any suggestions appreciated!

I have strips of glass siliconned to the inside of the tank right near the rim edge for the lids to sit on.

I kinda did the same thing and it works well, but I used larger pieces on the ends and one down the center, laying flat on top of the tank,
You might want to take a wet rock and smooth the edges of the glass tho the stuff is sharp and it tends to flake or chip super easy if its left with a raw edge..

What about the glass hanging over half an inch and then silicone smoothed or hot glue[so the glass doesn't have pressure points].
