I am unsure of the name but when a aquarium has only a glass canopies and has knobs you pull up to open. Are these custom made or are they tanks built and bought with them? If not, I would like to know where to find some for my 10 gallon and 29 gallon.. if anyone seen some in any stores such as petsmart/petco or online.

Might be cheaper on amazon.com. The 16" is cheaper there but the 20" is the same. I guess you can shop around and calculate which place sells it the cheapest with the lowest shipping cost.

I'm not sure if this is a universal problem, but I would warn than the plastic flex "hinge" on the one I bought (Perfecto brand) was half separated straight from the box new, and broke fully within the first couple of feedings. This might be something to watch for on cheap ones.

My solution has been a couple of layers of hockey tape on the joint, which has held well.

You can also use a bead of silicone sealant to make a hinge, just use a toothpick or two to space them, partly fill in the crack all the way across the tops and spread a thin layer about half an inch from the gap onto each piece. Some tops used to come from tank makers hinged this way.

I couldn't find any in 3 Petsmart near me so I will have to check my Petco which is further away, I could check a LFS but that would be an hour long drive.

Main point of getting the glass canopy is to be able to dual hood the top for more light :D.
