Glass Tops

2.25" was actually a little generous. Getting in there with a tape measure, the leading edge of the filter (1) sticks in only two inches from the inside of the upper lip of the tank (2).

It came out a little blurry, but it was dark back there.

ROFL! You are a prince, you know that? I didn't expect you to really measure it, much less post a picture. Thank you!

Hrmp. There must be someone who's had the same problems. I intend to put an Emperor 400 on my new tanks, as well as either an Eheim 2026 or XP2 (still haven't really decided which). Are they going to fit with the standard 48x18?

well, i guess i am not understanding. hopefully, aga will reply. as far as i know, there isn't a versatop made to fit a bowfront. assuming here, but wouldn't the dimensions of a AGA bowfront be different than a "regular" aga of the same capacity? then again, i have never eyeballed the bowfront to know how it is put together.

The 2026 will fit fine with the AGA 48x18 versa top. I have the 2028 on my 90G.

I suppose this doesn't help but it's what I read on Glass tops in a Doctors Foster & Smith catalog .. it says all glass tops are measured for the glass itself and the plastic is not counted, I wonder.. if where you bought this top may have measured it with the plastic in place?

Maybe i'm misunderstanding as well :) .. but I've found several aquarium sollutions at a local Craft store called Michaels .. I think they're a major chain but i'm not sure :) .. just i've had to be careful at the craft store to make sure plastic things didn't contain metal underneath the plastic or contaminate a bucket of water I put it in prior to the aquaria..

Ah, thank you very much.

The shop where I bought the tank from has two stores, one 2 minutes from my house and one near my husband's work. We bought the tank from the second store, which we frequent rarely as it's out of the way.

I asked about the tank at the store I go to all the time. I thought it was possible that I might have gotten a non-All Glass tank (even though it had an AGA sticker on it), but they tell me that Perfecto -- which is the only other brand they carry and they don't have very many -- doesn't make a 36g bow.

I did receive a reply to my All-Glass email. They told me to return the glass top to the store I bought it from and ask them to help me get the right one. I bought it on line, confident that if it said it was an AGA Versa Top for the AGA 36g bow front, that it would be the right one

Unless they took the correct top out of the AGA box and put a different one in its place, I don't see how that could happen.

No matter. I'll just deal with this bow front issue. The tanks I'm buying next week are all coming with glass tops and I'm getting them from my LFS. If there's a problem, I know they will fix it easy :)

well then! if that is what the box says....must have been a mistake. in my case, i ordered an twin tube versa top through the lfs adn received a regular sized cover with strip light. the twin tube has different dimensions. grrrr. hope you get it all straightened out with less trouble. on my end, i still hve not received the replacement from the lfs....same one that won't keep fish 2 weeks before selling them.

Ugh, that bites!

I gave my shopping list for 3x75g and 1x50g tanks + tops and stands to my LFS and they said they will have a discounted price for me by Sunday.

I'm SO excited! I have SO many rainbow fish I want to buy! Especially Melanotaenia duboulayi! What a looker! I want a whole tank of those with Goo Obo gudgeons! Maybe one with Melanotaenia trifasciata and definitely one with Glossolepis pseudoincisus. Some small tanks filled with Pseudomugil connieae and another small one filled with Pseudomugil furcatus or Pseudomugil mellis -- IF I can find those!

ARGH! Can't wait!
