Glowing Fish?

I'm not a big fan of them, but some of my friends love them. I don't like the artificial look, the natural ones are much prettier, imo.

I agree. This is mostly why I don't like them. I'm all for them at least doing it in a way that doesn't actually harm the fish, but they still don't look right to me.

:wall:

Wrong. I can't believe any of you support this or have no problem with such a practice. These fish are injected (that is essentially a needle going into these fish) with a foreign gene. I don't care what the gene does or what it's for- it does not belong to the fish.

Fish in both saltwater and freshwater environments are available in a multitude of coloring. There is NO need to support a trade (and no doubt this will grow into a fad) where fish glow in the dark when they naturally don't. Only a few marine species of fish glow in the dark and they've evolved such a trait as it benefits them somehow.

Most people are ignorant. Don't be like most people- you're in this hobby to care for awesome animals and give them the best care possible. Think again about crap done to fish (or any animal) to make them more profitable.

are these glofish or tatood fish? tattooing is wrong and not right.
genetically engineered fish? so what? you eat genetically engineered food every day, our bodies are genetically engineered with the chemicals and crap we inject ourselves with every day. i am generalizing a bit but if you want ill start throwing facts around

we are a genetically engineered chemical injected society.

GM Glofish are nothing near as bad as cloning.....

There is a bit of info out regarding glofish.

http://www.glofish.com/faq.asp

there are three colors green , orange and red.
the idea was to genetically modify with the intent to help identify pollutants in water ways.
